Wave internet goes down affecting Woodland, Davis, West Sac – Woodland Daily Democrat

Thousands of internet users lost service in Woodland, Davis and West Sacramento early Thursday after a main fiber-optic connection was severed on Court Street during a roadway reconstruction project.

The Wave internet system was cut around 9:30 a.m., according to Wave Broadband via social media.

“Wave customers in Woodland, West Sacramento and Davis, CA, areas – you may experience a service disruption due to damage from a construction site,” Wave’s tweet read. “Our crew is working as quickly and safely as possible to restore services. Thank you for your patience!”

Woodland residents have reported that their internet was down throughout various parts of town, including downtown Main Street. County workers as well as others in local businesses either closed up shop for the day or left to continue their work from home — if service was available.

The internet outage also affected the majority of Woodland District schools. However, the district has ensured parents that students would not be marked absent due to the outage via Twitter and Facebook.

Thursday’s special school board meeting where board members were scheduled to approve the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan has been canceled. The meeting will be rescheduled to next week.
